It is pertinent at this point that I bring the above issue to the notice of most students about; who are either studying in the UK already or intending students that are in the process of coming to study in the UK. I have been asked a lot of questions lately by my readers concerning this issue; thus, the need for a reminder.
The laws guiding working while studying in the UK is being implemented to the later and it is necessary that everyone is made aware of this and its attendant consequences. In fact, the home office is clamping down on international students that are breaking this law. In recent times stories abound of students that have been refused right of renewal of their student’s visa because they exceeded the minimum allowable working hours for a week, which is 20hours/week during term times or part-time; while he/she is allowed to do more or take up full-time jobs during vacations of upwards of 37hours/week.
This is the DfES‘ position on the issue:
Students on courses of more than six months are usually given immigration conditions in their passport that allow them to work parttime up to 20 hours a week during term-time and full-time during vacations.
This is wishing all intending students the best with their applications, while encouraging continuing students to keep studying hard as well as advising them to try and to live in accordance to all prevailing laws in the UK.
