The LSE’s new full-time MSc Finance programme (not to be confused with the longer established MSc Finance and Economics) will start this September and admit around 50 students.
Janet Bacastow, one of those involved in promoting the new programme, says it’s designed to cater for university leavers who know relatively little about finance: “This is geared for people with little or no work experience who may not necessarily have a finance-focused undergraduate degree.”
Ideal candidates will come from top tier universities and have achieved at least a 2.1, or will have come top in their class at less well recognized institutions. Sitting a GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) isn’t mandatory, but Bacastow says it will help your cause if your university isn’t top tier or your academic background doesn’t suggest quantitative ability.
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, but it’s a good idea to apply soon – the response has already been “overwhelming”.
