It is that time of the year again when the parties in the UK take turns to go on their annual party jamboree “conferences” where their major policies and programmes are formally announced.
However, methink it’s “all talk and no action” whether the party controls the government at the centre or not.
Emerging from their own conference today in Brighton, the Lib Dems have reeled out their own “thingy”; which to many is a welcome develpment. The unfortunate thing is that the Lib Dems are far from being in control of the goverment at the centre; thus the question of how to implement this marvelous agenda/plan. All the same it is a cheering news to all affected people and the campaigners for the supposed amnesty.
Here is an excerpt of the Lib Dems declaration:
Up to 600,000 illegal immigrants would be eligible for an amnesty under plans adopted today by the Liberal Democrats.
The party’s annual conference in Brighton voted in favour of a plan to create “an earned route to citizenship” for illegal migrants who had been in the UK for 10 years.
Other proposals including a border police force, an extension of language lessons, increased work permit fees for businesses, and the reintroduction of exit checks at all ports were also passed. …. Guardian
Although, 10 years is way of the mark; it is worth the mention as we sit back to watch and contribute to the debates as it unfolds in the days and weeks ahead.
